My works are interested in the process of recording the world, and the transformations brought on by the translations from real - to digital - to human replication.
I take an interest in bad photography: blurry images, messy long exposures, moments where everything is almost too dark to see and incorporate those technological limitations into my paintings. By recreating the smudges and flares of the photos by hand in paint, the limitation of recording is given equal meaning to the landscape originally captured.
In the end, the viewer is presented with something new, a world transformed by the act of recording and reproduction, the original obscured.
